Old Fashioned Southern Brown Sugar Maple Glazed Ham

The holidays are fast approaching and nothing says holiday food more than a delicious Old Fashioned Southern Brown Sugar Maple Glazed Ham!
- 1 fully cooked ham, about 6 to 8 pounds
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1 heaping tablespoon mustard, either spicy brown or Dijon style
- Optional spices – a scant amount of allspice, or cinnamon, or ginger.
- Cloves to stud the ham with (also optional)
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
- Put the ham, fat side up, on rack in a foil-lined roasting pan; score fat and stud with cloves, if desired.
- Cook the ham slowly at 325° F for about 18 minutes per pound, until meat thermometer or instant read thermometer registers 148° F.
- Mix the syrup, brown sugar, apple juice, mustard and the optional spices you choose to use in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil for about 2 minutes.
- About 20 minutes before the ham is done, spoon about half of the glaze over top of ham, then about 10 minutes before done, spread remaining glaze over ham.
